Vinoda Revansiddaiah

Vinoda Revansiddaiah is an abstract artist whose artistic journey began in the 1980s, emerging from a deep-rooted fascination with colour and a lifelong desire to explore the boundless possibilities of artistic expression.

Choosing to remain self-taught, she has developed an instinctive and spontaneous approach to painting, free from conventional artistic rules. Her distinctive technique evolved from her early experiments with colour into an unconventional method of using water as a brush, allowing colours to move freely across the canvas and creating compositions shaped by intuition, movement and the forces of Nature.

Working primarily in abstract acrylics on canvas, her paintings are untouched by hand, brush or any conventional painting instrument. Her process is guided by spontaneity and experimentation, allowing each work to evolve organically. For Vinoda, abstraction is not merely a style but a means of discovering the spirituality, freedom and joy inherent in creation.

Her artistic recognition began with her first solo exhibition at the Westminster Gallery, Windsor Manor, Bangalore, inaugurated by Dr. Raja Ramanna. She subsequently received invitations to exhibit her works in Kampala and Nairobi. Just before her departure for Kampala, she was honoured with an Honourable Mention Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, followed a few months later by the All India A.I.F.A.C.S Award.

Her works have since been exhibited in Africa, New York, Hamburg and various cities across India, giving her an opportunity to engage with diverse artistic sensibilities and reinforcing her belief in the universal language of Art.

Her artistic journey has been supported throughout by her husband, an ardent patron and supporter of Art, as well as by the encouragement of her children and grandchildren.

Today, Vinoda continues to explore abstraction through an uninhibited and intuitive process. Her works reflect her enduring belief that spontaneity is at the heart of authentic artistic expression, and that within abstraction lies the essence and ultimate joy of creation.
