Sujit Chakraborty

I am Sujit Chakraborty, a self-taught watercolour artist based in Kolkata, India, with an academic background in earth sciences and a lifelong dedication to art. My creative path has been enriched by training under the guidance of senior artists, helping me refine my technique and deepen my visual language.

As an avid traveler, I often find inspiration in the diverse places, people, and cultures I encounter — elements that subtly influence the mood and themes of my watercolour paintings. I work exclusively in watercolour, a medium I value for its delicacy, luminosity, and expressive range. My work explores themes of memory, identity, desire, solitude, and emotional intimacy.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to exhibit my works at several prestigious venues, including the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata, the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, and the Indian Watercolour Society’s Biennial Art Exhibition, among many others.
