Jayeeta Chatterjee

Born in 1995 at Bolpur, West Bengal, currently lives and works in Baroda, Gujarat. Jayeeta is a print maker who Pursuing her post graduation ( 2018-2020) in Print Making from M.S. University Baroda.Undergraduate (2014-2018) in Print Making from Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati . Jayeeta participated in various exhibitions nationally and internationally. She got the third position in HIT woodcut print festival in Norway and the GOA prize in Norway. Her work exhibited in south korea in Ulsan woodcut festival.she participated in many group shows and competitions in India and outside. Women and domestic interiors are the thematic pivot of Jayeeta’s work. Women particularly from the middle income group and lower middle class living in small towns are her subjects. She has documented domestic interiors and used them as her resources in the recent past but more recently she has started combining woodcut prints and ‘kantha-stitch’, a traditional embroidery of Bengal. The multiple roles of interior spaces in the context of an individual’s culture, economic stability, the vision of life and upbringing were her area of interest. She stitches her narrations through large scale woodcuts prints on fabric and embroidery mainly.
