K R Santhanan Krishnan

Born in 1977, K.R. Santhana Krishnan is a globally recognized artist celebrated for his dynamic and captivating door paintings. Raised in Edappadi, situated in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu, Santhana completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Government College of Fine Arts in Kumbakonam. He furthered his education with a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the Government College of Fine Arts in Chennai. During his formative years as a student in Kumbakonam and Chennai, Santhana Krishnan found himself captivated by the intricate designs of doors and thresholds that lined his daily path. This fascination with entrances transcended time and evolved into his artistic inspiration. Contemplating the myriad worlds and stories concealed behind these portals, Santhana Krishnan has dedicated the past two decades to crafting over 900 paintings centered around a singular theme — doors. These paintings depict doors infused with luminous hues, often portrayed slightly ajar, enticing the viewer's curiosity within.
