Ganesh Chaturthi Special - 11 Stunning Ganesha Paintings & Drawings

It is the favorite time of the year once again! It is time to welcome Lord Ganesh to our homes. Ganesh or Vinayaka Chaturthi is dedicated to Lord Ganesh (son of Shiva), the elephant-headed god of all good beginnings and success. MF Husain's love for Hindu mythology was well depicted in all his paintings.  And like many others this one of Lord Ganesha and Mata Pravati turned out to be controversial and he faced severe criticism for the same. The painting is about Lord Ganesh in the lap of his mother, which to some looked like a 'semi-nude woman'. The painting had to be removed from an exhibition held at JW Marriot hotel in Mumbai after a letter by a guest at the exhibition was submitted raising an objection. The exhibitors - Delhi Art Gallery feared violence erupting and the painting being damaged hence thought it is best to remove it from the exhibition. But as an art lover, you cannot but help fall in love with this masterpiece of MF Husain.
