Description
A monumental face, rendered in radiant terracotta, holds the viewer in a calm, unblinking gaze—its symmetry and simplified planes turning portraiture into an emblem of inner steadiness rather than individual likeness. Around this central presence, the parchment-like ground blooms with filigreed motifs and mythic fragments, where fish, patterns, and a small crowned figure drift like half-remembered stories at the edge of consciousness. The tension between the saturated, almost sacred warmth of the visage and the weathered, ornamental field suggests identity as a layered palimpsest—formed by devotion, folklore, and time’s gentle erosion. In this quiet frontality, the work becomes a meditation on seeing and being seen, where the self is both icon and archive.
