Within Her Gaze Wood Cut Contemporary Printmaking

This stylized profile turns the human face into a topography of rhythm—bands, grids, and curved striations that read like woven memory pressed into skin. A single, watchful eye anchors the composition, while the hand hovering above the brow suggests both protection and surveillance, as if thought itself must be shielded from the surrounding current. The palette of ember reds, ochres, and deep indigo sets up a charged dialogue between interior heat and exterior night, where identity is constructed through pattern, pressure, and repetition. In its graphic clarity and layered surface, the figure becomes an emblem of resilience: a self held together by design even as it is continuously rewritten by the world around it.
