Description
This work reads like an archaeological wall of language—typewritten fragments, gridded measures, and bruised washes of umber and ash—where information is both revealed and weathered into near-forgetfulness. The composition’s rigid lattice tries to impose order, yet the smeared, eroded surfaces and overprinted text create a restless palimpsest, suggesting memory as a contested site rather than a stable record. Light is not depicted so much as excavated: it seeps through abrasions and faded paper tones, turning the act of reading into a slow, uncertain deciphering. In its tension between archive and ruin, the piece meditates on how systems meant to clarify—documentation, mapping, classification—can also overwhelm, conceal, and quietly distort.
