Description
The work stages a quiet surrealism in which an ordinary pair of flip-flops becomes a threshold between the human scale and a landscape that feels both cultivated and uneasy. Earthy ochres and moss greens press the space into layered planes—field, wall, and sky—while the crisp blue straps puncture the palette like a sudden, lucid thought. The cropped, monumental feet and the box-like platform with watchful “eyes” suggest a body reduced to symbols, as if identity is being measured by what it stands on rather than what it reveals. In this suspended countryside, the painting reads as a meditation on belonging: home as an assemblage of signs, and the self as a temporary occupant of fragile terrain.
