Textural Deity 2 Watercolor Nature Painting

This work conjures a thicket as both sanctuary and labyrinth, where interlaced trunks and branching diagonals press forward like a living architecture. A restrained, mottled palette of greens and ochres is repeatedly interrupted by slate-violet bark, creating a rhythmic alternation of concealment and revelation as light filters through the canopy in fractured planes. The scratchy, incised linework reads like a palimpsest—part map, part memory—suggesting that the forest is not merely observed but mentally traversed. Beneath the dense lattice, the pale ground becomes a quiet threshold, a momentary clearing that hints at passage, pause, and the uneasy calm of being held inside nature’s complexity.
