A pale vertical seam of light cleaves the form like a fracture and a passage at once, suggesting a self divided between what is revealed and what is carefully withheld. The cool field and thin, circuit-like line near the crown suspend the head in a clinical calm, yet the layered surfaces carry a bruised tenderness, as though identity has been repeatedly rewritten and still refuses to dissolve.
