Description
This sculptural vessel reads like a carved totem of domestic myth, where a single block becomes both container and storyteller—its angular spout rising as a sentinel while the bird-headed finial keeps watch. Incised hatching and rhythmic striping turn the warm timber into a field of motion, so the surface feels simultaneously woven, tattooed, and topographical, punctuated by crisp white line drawings that conjure a guardian figure in quiet benediction. The restrained palette—earth browns with sharp ivory marks and a small flare of red—balances ritual gravity with playful folk immediacy, suggesting that utility can be a sacred stage for memory and identity. In the interlocking silhouettes of woman, bird, and vessel, the work proposes a compact cosmology: nourishment, protection, and song held in the same hand.
