Description
Set within a cool, aqueous field of turquoise and jade, the figures emerge like archetypes suspended between intimacy and anonymity, their faces replaced by masks, symbols, and measured marks that hint at surveillance and self-invention. The left body—weighted by tattooed numerals, droplets, and concentric “targets” on a violet dress—reads as a cartography of lived experience, where private pain and public display coexist on the same skin. Across from it, the horned cyclopean mask, the clipped ruler-like ticks, and the scatter of animals and birds turn the space into a coded ledger of instinct and control, as if identity is being counted, classified, and mythologized in real time. The work’s flattened relief and poster-like clarity sharpen its psychological tension: a quiet confrontation where desire for freedom (wings, flight) presses against systems of naming, measurement, and role.
