Description
A tumult of black marks coalesces into the suggestion of a seated figure, as if identity is being excavated and simultaneously erased by the very gesture that seeks to define it. The composition leans on a dense vertical core—part spine, part shadow—while the surrounding lattice of scratches and arcs creates a restless, urban-like static that presses in on the body’s fragile outline. Light is not painted but permitted: the white ground becomes a psychological void, allowing breath and doubt to seep through the charcoal’s insistence. What emerges is a portrait of interior weather—vulnerability held inside abrasion—where presence is felt most sharply at the edge of dissolution.
