This work stages an open window as a paradox—its shutters flare outward in invitation, yet the dense lattice and vertical bars insist on distance, turning access into a carefully rationed privilege. A bruised wash of crimson and soot-streaked whites presses around the frame like weather or memory, while the cool, oxidized greens of the wood read as both shelter and sediment of time. The composition’s strict symmetry is unsettled by drips and scratch-like lines that cut across the surface, suggesting unseen currents—wires, cracks, or thoughts—binding the private interior to a restless exterior. What emerges is a meditation on thresholds: the tenderness of looking out, and the quiet violence of being kept apart.
