Description
A hulking, animal-like mass—suggestive of a bison or rhinoceros—emerges from a storm of rubbed graphite and scraped charcoal, its presence felt more as weight and memory than as clear outline. The composition relies on abrasion and repetition: countless marks build a tactile fog where light is not painted in but excavated, turning the creature into a relic revealed by erosion. This restraint in color compresses the emotional register into a quiet, subterranean intensity, as if the work is asking what persists when identity is worn down to texture. In that tension between apparition and material surface, the image becomes a meditation on endurance, concealment, and the dignity of the half-seen.
