Description
This triptych stages a sly allegory of labor and desire: small primates rehearse the rituals of a human world—building, performing, adorning, and consuming—until imitation becomes its own quiet tragedy. The spare white ground turns each vignette into a specimen of behavior, while the buoyant bunting and laddered scaffolds introduce a circus-like verticality that contrasts with the earthy reds and bruised browns of toil below. In the final panel, the enlarged, seated figure—absorbed in a handheld screen—condenses the earlier bustle into solitary appetite, suggesting that progress can culminate not in mastery, but in distraction and enclosure. Across the sequence, the delicate linework and meticulous patterning lend the satire a tender intimacy, as if critique and empathy are inseparable.
