Darpana Sundari 2 (Self-Obsession) Mixed Media Animal Sculpture

A whimsical, horned figure balances with dancerly poise atop a radiant red base, its glossy surface catching light like a lacquered talisman and turning the body into a living highlight. The raised arms—each punctuated by small circular discs—read as both celebratory gesture and ritual apparatus, as if the sculpture stages a playful ceremony of reflection and self-display. Around it, green, bulb-like forms curl outward in a slow orbit, suggesting a fantastical ecosystem that simultaneously supports and interrogates the central performer, blurring the line between ornament, creature, and myth. The work thrives on this tension: comedic charm on the surface, and beneath it an elegant meditation on identity as performance within a carefully constructed world.
