A brusque, cobalt “X” is built from countless short strokes, as if an emphatic gesture has been slowed down into a ledger of marks—each line a unit of insistence. Set against a mottled, weathered ground, the form reads like both a sign of negation and a bandage: a crossing-out that simultaneously holds something together. Small, dark interruptions at the edges—looped and comma-like—introduce a hesitant, almost linguistic counterpoint, suggesting that beneath the certainty of the symbol lives a quieter, unresolved message. The work stages a tension between command and vulnerability, where the raw materiality of repetition becomes a portrait of restraint under pressure.
