Description
In this sepia-toned tableau, the artist stages consciousness as a dissected artifact—multiple profiles and a skull-like cranial form layered into a single, restless presence that seems to turn in on itself. The tight crosshatching and muted light compress the space, making the room feel like a mind under examination, where diagrams, specimens, and half-seen figures become evidence of memory rather than mere objects. A surgical stillness pervades the composition, yet the repetition of faces suggests time splitting into parallel selves, as if identity is continually reconstructed from what is observed, recorded, and forgotten. The work reads as a quiet allegory of human inquiry: knowledge amassed at the cost of intimacy, with the body and psyche rendered simultaneously sacred and clinical.
