ABOUT ARTIST YUGDEEPAK SONI
Yug Deepak is a young representative of a traditional painter family from Rajasthan. He trained with the senior artists in his family who work under the guardianship of the master Shilp Guru Shri Badri Lal Chitrakar. Yug Deepak learnt the details and nuances of almost all the styles in India and is keen on keeping the aesthetics of the tradition alive.
Though he experiments with the compositions and treatment of the styles, he always uses the traditional materials, techniques and themes. He likes to illustrate classical Indian poetry, literature and myths.
He uses a range of traditional materials including old papers, muslin and silk clothes and mineral, metallic and organic pigments. Acquiring and preparing traditional materials is an art in its own right and is a long and tedious procedure. He has a strong command on the Mughal and Rajput styles and is also dextrous in Nathadwara qalam.
His rigorous practice and years of dedication in the field has established him as a skilled artist and his experiments have added a new dimension to the tradition.
Yug Deepaks works have been exhibited in seven solo exhibitions in various cities in India. He lives and works in his quiet studio in the suburbs of Udaipur, Rajasthan.
